28 years ago, this same time, during the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, Equine history and Olympic history was made. Now GoldenGael is bursting with pride and excitement as some of this history is now ours.
Yesterday, Tahary confirmed, in foal to Abdullah!
Thank you Sue Williams for recognizing Tahary as an exceptional mare for Abdullah.

About
Tahary
Tahary
vom Castell is a black OSB Trakehner mare by Avignon II out of the
exceptional mare Tarabia E. She is also approved by the German
Oldenburg Verband and entered in
their Main Mare Book September 1999.. Her sire is the full
brother to Arogno, a leading Trakehner sire. Her dam, in addition to
having produced two approved stallions, was awarded State Premium
and the Silver Medal of the German Riding Horse Federation. Tahary
is seen below doing what she does best -- produce and raise
outstanding foals. She had four for us, and we have been delighted
with each one. She is easy to get in foal and is a dream to work
around, with or without a baby on the ground. We feel lucky to
have her as our foundation mare for GoldenGael
Farm. She comes to us from
Avonlea Oaks Farm in Cedar Creek, Texas.

2004 filly Tarrington
winning Reserve Grand Champion filly and high
point Trakehner at the Proud Meadows DSHB Show in
Dallas this last weekend. She is by the up and
coming young Enrico Caruso son Kovington. This was
her first adventure away from home and you would
have thought she did it every day of the week.
Nothing was scary and she never worried a bit about
being in a strange place. What a joy!!

Trey is TJ's
full brother and we are very pleased with this second Kostolany
son. We expect he will top out at about 16.1.
He is a much more refined horse than his brother. He has a
lovely topline, compact frame, and chisled head. His movement is
loose and lofty. He is a very well behaved horse, but is more
spirited than his older brother. He has been started under
saddle and is has proven to be a willinging, easy going and
quick learner. He is now being prepared for competition.
Bloodlines
Trey is by the champion German Trakehner stallion Kostolany
out of our Oldenburg Verband approved Trakehner mare Tahary. His
dam sire is the full brother to Arogno, sire of Anky van
Grunsven's Trakehner mount Partout. His granddam is a designated
"exceptional" mare for having produced two approved stallions
and she was awarded State Premium and the Silver Medal of the
German Riding Horse Federation. Trey's bloodlines include Enrico
Caruso, Mahagoni (sire of Olympic dressage stallion Peron) and
other outstanding Trakehners including Ibikus and Flaneur. His
part siblings through his sire include eight approved stallions
(including the Dutch champion sire Gribaldi) and the 2002
Niedersachsen dressage championship silver medalist, Shannon TSF.

Breedings Planned
All of us who know and love
Tahary are absolutely thrilled that we have been granted permission
to use IDEAL's 13 year old frozen semen for our 2007 breeding ~
2008 foaling date. That includes GoldenGael Farm, Avonlea Oaks
Farm, Tarawin Farm, and WinMoore Farms.
IDEAL (pronounced E-DEE-AL) is
an equine legend and is even now a BREYER Horse Model.
The IDEAL STORY
One of just Five Four Star
Stallions in the USA!
IDEAL was born January 1, 1985
in Oldenburg, Germany, a chestnut colt who
turned grey. It was here he was branded and awarded Premium Foal
status by the Oldenburg Verband. IDEAL has matured to 16.2 hands. He
was among the first of the new modern type stallion to become
popular. When his breeding career began stallions of 17 hands were
sought after. Often people assume, and incorrectly report on the
various chat pages, that he is much larger. This probably results
from his muscular physique and strong bone.
History of the Oldenburg Horse at a
new informational site to be found at
www.oldenburghorses.com
)
IDEAL was bred by the then Burgermeister or
Official Mayor of Oldenburg Germany. (How could he be any more
Oldenburg than that?)
IDEAL was hand selected to be exported to the USA to refine
the sport horse type in North America and add excellent athletic
ability by improving bloodlines.
1988 IDEAL was certified by the International
Sporthorse Registry and the German Oldenburg Verband as a breeding
stallion
1990 All foals of IDEAL presented were branded Oldenburg and
given Premium Foal status. First Premium colt Interflocken record
score of "8.5".
1990 IDEAL received Second Reserve
Champion status at the 100 Day Stallion Testing held at Rancho
Murieta, California. IDEAL was awarded 9's on his Jumping ability
which was found to be of International quality. He scored 8's on his
gaits.
1990 IDEAL was granted a Lifetime Breeding License, by the German
Oldenburg Verband and the International Sporthorse Registry.
IDEAL at 1990 the 100 Stallion Testing
1991 IDEAL was approved by the French
National Stud. Facteur Selle Francais.
1996 IDEAL was granted a Lifetime Breeding
License by the International Arabian Horse Association.
2001 IDEAL became a
Rheinland Pfalz-Saar International Approved Stallion.
2003 IDEAL became a FOUR STAR STALLION. One
of just five in the ISR/Oldenburg N.A. Registery at the time.
IDEAL, in fulfilling the expectations of his legendary
ancestors, INSCHALLAH, ZEUS, and FURIOSO, is
establishing an impressive breeding record in his own right.
IDEAL is one of only a few in a book of over 200 stallions to
have sired three 9.0 rated First Premium Foals with several 9.0
scores for movement or conformation.
Remarkably, 54% of IDEAL'S total offspring
have been awarded Premium Foal status by the ISR and Oldenburg
Verband N.A. Ideal's first under saddle offspring are winning in
AHSA/USDF dressage rings under both professional and amateur
competitors.
Additionally, IDEAL has sired on line champions and Champion
Premium
mares. All progeny display Ideal's impeccable jumping
technique. Check out some of his youngsters jumping on our Blue
Ribbon Round Up page.
Olympic and International Dressage and Show Jumping riders have
called IDEAL exceptional for both disciplines.
IDEAL, a Premium Foal in Oldenburg, Germany, received Second
Reserve Champion status at his 100 Day Stallion Testing. Awarded 9's
in jumping and 8's in gaits by German judges.
IDEAL is a 3-star stallion in the categories of exceptional
conformation, excellence in performance testing and outstanding
foals.
And, he seems to be well on his way to the two remaining
stars.
IDEAL has become known for his most important
characteristic, his unique and willing temperament. And, that of
being an improvement stallion. Often producing get as good as
himself or better from a from a variety of mares.
IDEAL'S deceased sire, INSCHALLAH'S blood is currently
very popular with German Breeders since it has been discovered
through the generations that INSCHALLAH blood possesses the
ideal temperament for successful sport horses . . . ride-ability and
temperament.

Breeding plans
2008 ~ 2009
GoldenGael Farm is honored to have our beautiful Trakehner mare
Tahary vom Castell, worthy of breeding to Abdullah, the greatest
show jumping horse of all time. Please take a moment to read about
Abdullah and his incredible, unmatched career. Our sincere
appreciation to Sue Williams of Willamsburg Farm for recognizing
Tahary as a qualified mare for such an equine legend.
Abdullah

© 2003 Williamsburg Farms
Abdullah was recently honored as one of the top 50
horses of the century by "The Chronicle of The Horse". The gray
Trakehner stallion will best be remembered for his 1984 Olympic
performance in show jumping with his rider Conrad Homfeld. Their
brilliant clear round in the Team Competition clinched the first and
only team gold medal for the United States. They went on to win the
Olympic silver medal in the individual competition.
Abdullah and Conrad continued to re-write the record
book by winning the 1985 World Cup in Berlin and at the age of 15
yrs they again won a first and only Team Gold medal at the 1986
World Championships, Aachen, where Abdullah was the leading horse of
the competition.
Abdullah was one of the first warmblood jumper stallions and with
his many victories he was in great demand as a sire of performance
horses. He is approved as a breed stallion by virtually every
warmblooded registry. In the U.S. he has produced IHF and IJF
Champions as well as numerous AHSA Horses of The Year. Most
recently, in 1999, his son Abracadabra was AHSA Jr. Jumper of The
Year.

A very successfull program using frozen semen thru Select
Breeders Service has allowed Abdullah to be bred to some of the best
mares in Europe. As a result of this international program the
stallion Airborne Monticello, presently competing for France, was
named to their 1996 Olympic Show Jumping Team and was a member of
their 1998 World Championship Silver Medal Team. Abdullah has
approved breeding stallions in Austria, France, Germany, and Italy.
Abdullah's owners Terry and Sue Williams purchased the then 3
year old stallion in 1973 from Gerhard Schickedanz in Unionville,
Ontario Canada as an event prospect and breeding stallion. They
were personally involved in his long career. They travled with him,
cared for him and enthusiastically cheered for him at the
competitions. Due to their great affection for this wonderful horse,
Abdullah was never offered for sale, rather the extensive breeding
program at Williamsburg Farm in Middleport, NY was centered around
him. After the end of his show jumping career at age 18, Abdullah
continued to be ridden regularly by Sue and they continued to bring
him to Florida for the winter season. He was always visited by many
admirers and friends.

January 9, 2000 - The barns in the equestrian community of
Wellington, Florida, the largest community and showgrounds of its
kind in the world, continue to swell to full capacity. At his winter
residence, in the first barn on the right off of South Shore Drive,
reigned the greatest show jumping horse of all time. Abdullah. Often
with his head out the stall door he would watch, as none of the tens
of thousands of horses that passed by daily have come close to
matching his record.
The great Trakehner stallion, Abdullah, who clinched the first
team gold medal for the United States in show jumping at the 1984
Olympic Games died from complications due to colic. Williamsburg
Farm, owned by Terry and Sue Williams, purchased Abdullah in 1973,
became one of the first American farms to begin breeding Trakehneer
horses, the German breed to which Abdullah owes his heritage.

Together with
Conrad Homfeld, Abdullah won the Olympic Team Gold and individual
silver medal in 1984, the World Cup Finals in 1985, and the team
gold and individual silver medal at the World Championships in
Aachen 1986. With over 400 offspring many creating records of their
own, Abdullah has left his mark, imbedded deeply into the history
and records of equestrian sport.
