Abailes GS has returned to GoldenGael and will be under the training of
Aubree Forsythe. We are all very excited to have him home and back with
Aubree.

Abailes
and Christy participated in an obstacle course session to
desensitize him to various items. He was confident and curious.
Christy did not “lead” him through the obstacles, rather she stood
at his side and asked him to go through each course. They have
built a bond and he trusts her. Christy explained that if she had
done her job properly as a trainer, Abailes would trust her and do
what she asked of him. As you can see from the photos, Christy is
off to the side as he moves forward through each obstacle. Trust,
it’s that simple.

We all knew Abailes
was smart, but we’re just now beginning to learn just HOW smart he is.
His “colt” trainer, Christy Coker, uses a basic natural horsemanship
with the foundation of earning respect with teaching respect. Christy
has studied with Clinton Anderson and practices his natural horsemanship
methods. I’ve watched her closely and her work is simply amazing. He
is scheduled to be gelded next Tuesday. That gave Christy 8 days to get
him used to the hose, used to the water, and some pressure from the
spray as we’ll have to keep him clean until he’s healed. So here’s day
two. Simply trust and respect. It’s a joy to watch the two of them
together.
